History
Megan began her simulation career teaching engineers and architects in North America how to model their custom project designs in simulation software tools with Integrated Environmental Solutions, Ltd (IES). She moved to Portland, Oregon with IES in 2017 to help develop software that offered more explicit modeling options to engineers for advanced mechanical system designs. Through her involvement with the local ASHRAE chapter, Megan found an opportunity to continue teaching undergraduate engineering students about building energy systems at the University of Portland.
Seeking to integrate her energy modeling experience with her talent for education, Megan founded Alentur in 2018 to offer building energy simulation and review services. Since then, Alentur has reviewed hundreds of LEED project submissions and completed energy models for LEED certification as well as state energy code compliance. Megan continues to teach Energy Efficiency in Buildings at the University of Portland and share her experience in sustainability with the incoming leaders of the architecture & engineering industry.

Volunteerism
Previously awarded a Regional Award of Merit and Chapter Service Award, Megan is a long standing member of ASHRAE and has been involved with the Society since graduating with a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida (UCF). Upon graduation, Megan began volunteering with the Central Florida Chapter of ASHRAE as Student Activities Chair. She had participated in the ASHRAE Student Design Competition herself, and was grateful for the opportunity to share her exposure to the HVAC&R industry with fellow UCF engineers. Eventually, Megan served as Chapter President in Central Florida after enjoying other volunteer roles with the Chapter, including serving on the Host Committee for the 2010 Winter Meeting.
In 2010, Megan joined the YEA Committee, participating in organizing the successful YEA Leadership Weekends and expanding the program beyond North America. She later served as chair of the committee from 2014 – 2015.
Megan also served as Atlanta Chapter Vice-President and Student Activities Regional Vice Chair in Region IV for 2 years. She is currently the Chair of the Student Activities Committee and a Voting Member of SSPC 140. Megan is a co-author of the ASHRAE Design Guide for Air Terminal Units publication.
